J.D. Lewis is the artistic director of The Actor’s Lab. He began his career in 1982 in a Wim Wender film, Hammett. After doing a number of films in Los Angeles, he moved to London, England where he spent three years in a repertory theatre company, touring England, Scotland and Wales. During his stay in the U.K., he starred in The Plaything, a Fringe First recipient at The International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, In film, he has worked with great film directors such as Wim Wender, Mimi Leder, Robert Cook, Rob Bowman, and Paul Leder. As an artistic director, J.D. lead the Digby Group, an award winning bi-coastal theater company in producing shows on both the east and west coast. In addition to teaching, he directs television, theater, film and commercials. J.D. has worked with, coached, or directed numerous actors including: Debra Winger, Gary Cole, John Savage, Frederick Forrest, Natasha Gregson-Wagner, Brooke Shields, Judd Nelson, Tamara Mello, Kathy Ireland, Julianna Margulies, Susan Dey, Harry Hamlin, Kathy Griffin, Scott Baio, Zander Berkeley, Marla Maples, Matt LaBlanc, Nestor Carbonell, Pamela Reed, Tyler Labine, Ron Eldard, Robert Wisdom, Jasmine Guy, Ricky Carroll, Maureen Teefy, Robert Carradine, Alan Rachins, Sally Kirkland, Cher Ferreyra, Kay Lenz, Estelle Harris and Francis Fisher.
